Eliminating Coptotermes
CTS Termite and Pest Control recently did an installation of a termite barrier at a home in Pacific Pines and the neighbour came over to talk to Woody, as he was finishing up.
We had met this lovely lady a year ago when she had active termites in her bathroom and bedroom. The species specified were known to be Coptotermes and are very common on the Gold Coast and are also known to be very aggressive. Coptotermes can cause up to $1000 worth of damage in a week particularly in the summer months when they are at their most active.
Our technician, Jacob, explained all of this onsite and recommended directly treating the active termites to help speed up colony elimination as well as carry a thorough internal and external termite inspection to check for any other activity. Further suggestions were made regarding the need to install a termite barrier to protect against the threat of future termite attack.
Naturally, the customer elected to receive a few quotes (which we understand can be a good thing as we can ascertain another technician's opinion and observe the competency of our competitors!). The customer ended up choosing a different company that offered the same barrier installation but was cheaper than the quote provided by CTS Termite and Pest Control. The barrier was installed so poorly that it resulted in a breach within the barrier and her home being subsequently attacked by termites, causing even more damage.
Whether you're having a chemical termite barrier or a baiting and monitoring system installed, both are excellent barriers so long as they are installed and monitored correctly. There are very strict guidelines when it comes to installing a termite barrier and sometimes this means we need to spend a few more hours on site at the initial stage. This in turn sets up the foundation for a good barrier as well as the effective minimisation of risks. Deleting all conducive areas will further ensure a termite-free home.
Our customer contacted CTS Termite and Pest Control to install a chemical termite barrier to stop further infestation at her home. Before the install, our team conducted a termite inspection to evaluate the full extent of the damage. The chemical termite barriers installed provided for immediate protection to any structure, whether wood or concrete. These chemical termite barriers have the ability to eradicate all termites in their nests.
The following week, our team checked her home and found that termites weren't able to have access to her property any further. This method gave her hope in terminating those aggressive Coptotermes that had caused so much damage and frustration at the onset.
