Baiting and Monitoring System - EXTERRA
Any baiting and monitoring system does not need to be as close to the external wall of your home as a chemical barrier however, unlike the chemical soil treatment, it is made up of individual stations. In order for this system to be effective, these stations must be positioned a
maximum of 3 meters apart. This is the optimal distance to eliminate the chance of termites entering your home.
The baiting and monitoring system can go around anything and everything for example; decks, pools, air-conditioning units, concrete and tiled areas, there is no need for trenching, drilling holes at 200mm centers or removing and or replacing any obstructions. Each bait station is installed into concrete areas like driveways or soil, grass or gardens areas.
We then add to the stations a termite attractant and timbers. The combination of the attractant, the timber and the warmth and dampness of the soil acts as an attractant for termites that are heading toward your home. The stations are checked regularly by our qualified expert technicians when they find active termites. They bait directly on them, which is how we achieve full colony elimination. The bait we use is scientifically proven to kill a colony of termites and is eco-friendly, nontoxic and completely safe around pets and children.
There are several different types or styles of termites stations available however, it is how the stations are installed and managed which is crucial to the effectiveness of the barrier. We've already mentioned stations must be positioned a maximum of 3 meters apart around the perimeter of your home to offer full protection. They must also be seated fully into the ground so there is no light getting inside them - termites do not like being exposed to the elements which is why they are called master hiders. Stations also need to be checked every 4 weeks in the first year and every 6-8 weeks in subsequent years.
We use 2 different types of stations; Exterra and Termatrix. Today we will take a look at EXTERRA.
